About the Conference

General

The 17th Biennial Conference on the Biology of Marine Mammals is a gathering of marine mammalogists and other scientists from around the world, held under the auspices of the Society for Marine Mammalogy, at which the results of recent research are presented and discussed. This conference occurs every two years in different locations. This year the conference is in Cape Town, South Africa, November 29 - December 3, 2007, at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC).

Information

This website will serve as the primary resource for all information related to the conference, including registration, abstract submission, workshops, travel and accommodation, and vendor exhibits. Additional web pages will become available as links at the top of this page.

Registration

Registration information will be posted in due course on the registration page. Early registration will open on 23 July 2007, and advanced registration on 01 September 2007. After 02 November 2007, no registrations will be accepted until on-site registration opens at the CTICC on Wednesday, 28 November. That evening, there will be an icebreaker reception at the Castle of Good Hope. The conference programme begins on Thursday, 29 November, and ends on Monday, 3 December. A closing dinner and dance will take place on the evening of 3 December in the CTICC Banquet Hall.

Workshops & Symposia

Meeting space has been arranged for workshops and symposia prior to the conference, on Tuesday, 27 November, and Wednesday, 28 November at the CTICC. Please note that there will be a daily per-capita charge for the use of this space, associated audiovisual facilities and tea/coffee. For more information please go to the Workshops page.
