Fuller Hall:

Despite a written undertaking to supply accommodation at their Graca Machel residence, the University of Cape Town has recently informed us that this residence will be closed immediately after the end of term for installation of fire-detecting equipment. We apologise to all those who have already booked to stay at Graca Machel.

However the University has offered us (and we have accepted) alternative accommodation at Fuller Hall, one of the University’s two oldest residences situated on the upper Campus, built in 1928, and a National Monument (see pictures below). This is a more ‘traditional’ type university accommodation arranged on a staircase basis, with groups of 6 rooms to a staircase and a bathroom and toilet for every staircase.

Each room has a single bed, a desk and chair, and a cupboard. Towels, soap, 2 sheets, a pillow and a duvet will be provided.
All communal areas are serviced every day, including Saturdays and Sundays, but linen is only changed every 5 days and you will be responsible for making your own bed. We are investigating the possibility of after hours tea/coffee making facilities but you will need to provide your own utensils and ingredients to make tea or coffee (you will have your conference mug!).  

The room will lock with a padlock that you will be provided with when you check in.
 There is a live-in Warden and an After-hours Manager and reception will be manned 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Accommodation is available from the 26 November - 5 December. Rooms can be booked at a rate of R210 per person per night, which includes a full (hot) breakfast and transport once a day, to and from the CTICC. Breakfast will be at 07h00 each day. A bus will leave in the morning after breakfast, in time for you to arrive for the workshops and plenaries (a 20-30mins drive, depending on rush hour!), and will return again after special evening sessions. The bus will only operate from 27 November - 3 December.

Check in time is from 14h00 on day of arrival and check out time will be by 10h00 on the day of departure.
As the accommodation is in a student residence, the University requires a gender breakdown of the group. You will be asked for this information on your booking form.
