The CTICC is providing meeting space for workshops on Tuesday, 27 November, and Wednesday, 28 November 2007. These sessions are independent of the Biennial Conference, although they have become an important adjunct to it. Workshops offer an opportunity for a focused forum on timely topics and a flexible format for talks or group discussion.

The following space is available for workshops, on both the planned days. See the CTICC website for a virtual tour of Levels 01 and 02.

Meeting Rooms 2.41-2.46: Total area 375 sq m. Seats 330 theatre-style as one unit but can be subdivided into up to six separate rooms, each seating 30 people theatre-style.

Please note two important changes from previous conferences. Firstly, the Society has had to make a financial commitment to reserve this space, so there will be a daily per-capita charge of R150 from workshop participants to recoup audiovisual and room hire costs. Coffee/tea breaks are not included in this cost, but can be arranged through the CTICC at an estimated cost of R20 per person per break. Secondly, as shown above, the room space reserved is available in several different formats, depending on the number of participants, so there will have to be close coordination to ensure that the space is effectively utilised.

Generally, conference organizers are not involved in the organization or coordination of these workshops, but because of the unusual nature of this year’s meeting, workshop convenors will have to cooperate closely with the Scientific Programme Chair to ensure effective use of space. When applying, organisers should specify date(s) and likely number of participants, plus audiovisual requirements and needs for tea/coffee. Participants will have to make their own lunching arrangements. Workshop convenors will be responsible for workshop registration and ensuring that all participants pay the appropriate daily fee.
